It was an amazing day trip, we were lucky with sunny day in a rainy season Of course we understood that we weren’t in a good shape to climb this mountain in expected time, but we did!!! Hector was a… Full review by elenacE18

We did the hike with no guide. It is really easy, the road is wide and well marked you can not get lost. I was a little scared because it was night but that was not necessary. We started hiking at ar… Full review by Manja M

Hi, Jeanette. What would you like to know about this attraction? I am confused as some reviewers say you need to be in great physical shape to go to "Volcan Baru" and others talk about driving up! We are in our 70's with bad knees, etc. Does this rule us out of getting to Volcan Baru?

I would highly advise against hiking up it. I am 38 and in good shape. It was the most challenging activity I have done. It took 11 hours and over 6500 feet of elevation gain. You can drive all the way to the top. It is a very rocky road and takes probably 60-90 minutes each way. You do not need a guide but would want either an atv or 4wd. You can't get lost, rocky gravel road from park entrance to the top where they have some towers and other buildings.
Q:
Are dogs allowed in the reserve?
A:
I honestly dont know? Sorry.

Q:
Has anyone gone up the side from Boquete and then gone down the more scenic side to the west? I am curious if you can get a shuttle back to Boquette as it is a little town on the other side. If so, does anyone know the cost?
A:
Not aware of a shuttle but there is a road that is bit of a challenge and not very well marked. Our friends hiked to Boquete from Volcan with a guide and loved it. Not ME!
