Founded in 1947, the Forestburgh Playhouse, operated byTheatrical Arts at Forestburgh, Inc, is the oldest continuously operating professional summer theatre in New York State. The Forestburgh Playhouse operates during the summers only, from mid-June through Labor Day, and offers 3 different types of performance experiences: musical theatre and plays, a youth theatre and musical cabaret shows.

We saw Matilda and The Addams Family at the Forestburgh this past summer (2023). The talent was amazing. Don't miss out on the little gem in a lovely garden setting. Full review by Andrea M

It was built in the late 40's having been a farm barn converted to The Forestburg Summer Theatre.....I was about 11 then. I watched the actors put up the sign advertising and the days open. An error was made on the dates and as I read it aloud; "Mon. Thur Friday", Instead of writing 'Thru". I was asked to ''stick around' and help. It was my first job if only for change.and I only lived a couple of houses away on the other side of the street next to the church.
