Well worth the hike! I don't care for long hikes, but so glad I did it! Views are spectacular! Good to start early and get up to enjoy the lakes in the midday sun! Full review by angieg58

I hiked to Colchuck Lk. on the last day of June last year (2017). The weather was consistently warm (mid 70’s) the whole way and bright (bring sunscreen/ sun hat / sunglasses). The trail has some shade through the forest but you will definitely work up a good sweat as it is a steady uphill slog the whole way to the lake. Dress light, but bring a layer to put on when you stop. Yes, hiking boots are definitely a good idea as the terrain is steadily uphill with rocky areas to pass through and also damp areas.
