Loved the guided tour of Matanuska Glacier. It was a fantastic experience with our guides, Ben, Maya, Nate, Drew. They are very safety minded with also giving thrills on the Glacier. Full review by Shelli H

It's our first-timers whitewater trip. The river is wide enough to allow the guide to customize the experience for the clients. We also have different approaches to boat control and client participation. With paddle assist or a center frame rowed raft, your boat is primarily under the control of the guide. With full paddle rafting your in a team arrangement that respond to the commands of the guide, and the team needs to perform, and the likelihood of swimming increases. The likelihood of ending up in the river swimming on this trip is very small, especially if your in a raft that is controlled with oars by the guide. Because it's glacial and cold, we make an extra effort to keep folks in the rafts, but voluntary swims are an option below the rapids to just say you did. Anyone participating in whitewater should be comfortable with the prospect of ending up in the river and helping to self rescue. It's part of the activity, and all the gear and procedures are in place to make this a fun non-life threatening event. However, like crossing a street, there are risks we can't eliminate or imagine.
