Its a beautiful thing to watch the sunrise from the top. But be aware, you will be in “heavy traffic”, so you might miss the best light if you don’t go suuuuper early. However, the view is amazing.Full review by F P

Hi, It won't be busy in March. It's better to go brfore 9am. Or after 4 pm. It can get very hot midday. Cheers

A:
Take a bus to Dambulla then probably easiest to Uber or hire a private driver to take you to Sigiriya. There may be some private and public buses but it's not far so I'd recommend going by car.

I didn't do it at sunset but it would totally be possible, taking into account the good advice you just received. It's a climb not to be missed whether you do it at sunset or simply during the day. A bit challenging in the later part but doable (I did it and I'm 66 and definitely not an athlete).
