A spot on the sun’s surface will likely disrupt Earth’s magnetic field, pulling the phenomenon to more states, forecasters said.

The Northern Lights, otherwise known as Aurora Borealis, will be visible across multiple states in the U.S. on April 15 and 16, 2025. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has an "Aurora dashboard" that provides maps showing where the Northern Lights may be visible.
