Experts say criminal intent will be key in prosecuting NBA's Billups and Rozier in gambling cases
NBA coach and Hall of Fame member Chauncey Billups is charged with luring high-stakes poker players to games he knew were fixed, while veteran NBA forward Terry Rozier is accused of faking an injury and sitting on the bench to help bettors win thousands of dollars in 2023.
However shocking, Chauncey Billups' role in the alleged gambling scandal is not the first legal trouble he has found himself in.

12 potential replacements for coach Chauncey Billups should he not return to the Trail Blazers
Chauncey Billups’ future with the Portland Trail Blazers is precarious at best following his arrest Thursday for allegedly participating in rigged poker games. The Blazers and the NBA placed Billups on leave and assistant coach Tiago Splitter has been named interim head coach.
Billups averaged 17.0 points on 42.4% shooting (40.0% 3-pointers), 6.3 assists and a steal during his first tenure in Detroit.
According to the FBI, Billups and former Cavs guard Damon Jones were used by the Mafia as “Face Cards” to lure high rollers to play poker. The indictment against him states those games date back to 2019 involving Billups.
