Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass sparked a social media firestorm on Monday after she attempted to stop ICE agents from conducting a raid at a park known for criminal activity.

During an afternoon press conference with Bass, City Council member Eunisses Hernandez and Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Bass stated that the raid “was another example of the [Trump] administration ratcheting up chaos by deploying what looked like a military operation in an American city.”

Immigration agents who flooded a Los Angeles park on Monday said they were there as a “show of force” to protect residents from MS-13 gangbangers and open air drug markets — before they were furiously confronted by Mayor Karen Bass.
