The comments come after now former Superintendent Marie Feagins filed a lawsuit against the entire board, alleging violations of open meetings laws.

Former Memphis-Shelby County Schools Superintendent Marie Feagins is seeking to void the school board’s January vote to oust her. Feagins claims in a complaint provided by her attorney Monday that the school board violated the Tennessee Open Meetings Act while terminating her contract.

All nine MSCS school board members are listed in the lawsuit and accused of violating the Open Meetings Act, which gives the public rights to attend and observe public meetings.

According to court documents, Feagins is suing for violations of the Tennessee Open Meetings Act. In the lawsuit, Feagins does not address the contract violations that the board found in the termination resolution, but instead says the board violated public meetings laws through texts and private meetings.
