NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - An employee who was caught on video mishandling the body of a homicide victim has been fired, according to a statement from the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office. The victim has been identified as Michael Craig Hankins, 61.

An Orleans Parish Coroner's Office employee was captured on camera apparently dragging the bagged body of a homicide victim down the front steps of a Bywater home Thursday night, raising fresh criticism about the office’s procedures.

The video, published Thursday night by crime-watch organization Project NOLA, shows the coroner’s office employee pulling a body bag on a tarp down the stairs.
