U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday dismissed an effort by some Israeli lawmakers to push forward with annexation of the occupied West Bank, saying Israel is "not going to do anything with the West Bank.
Vice President JD Vance also called symbolic votes in Israel’s Parliament to take territory a “very stupid political stunt.”
Israel's Knesset, in a preliminary vote, approved sovereignty in the West Bank, described as a political ploy by right-wing opposition during JD Vance's visit.
The vote was the first of four needed to pass the law, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party didn't support the legislation.
Video verified by ABC News shows an alleged Israeli settler clubbing an elderly Palestinian woman in the West Bank on Sunday. She remains hospitalized, a mayor said.
The appliance was sent to the West Bank last year but was impounded at an Israeli port where it has racked up £16,000 in fees.
Also Wednesday, Israeli lawmakers on voted to advance two bills on annexing the occupied West Bank, an ambition openly promoted by far-right ministers in recent months.
