Three people died and four others were injured after their vehicle collided with an elephant in Murchison Falls National Park, police said on Monday.
The Ugandan Police Force reported on X the accident late on Sunday night involved a minivan which was traveling from Arua to Kampala with seven officials working with the Uganda Revenue Authority.
The volunteers are thought to have contracted the virus during a humanitarian mission in DR Congo in March and are believed to be “among the first known victims of the outbreak.”
