Moviestore/Shutterstock Shrek 5 was originally set to premiere on July 1, 2026, but DreamWorks and Universal Pictures announced that it had been pushed back in January 2025, as reported by Deadline.

This is per the doomspeakers over at Deadline, who revealed that Universal has forestalled the birth of the long-gestating Shrek 5, delaying it from a July 2026 release to Christmas of that same year.

It's a little hard to believe that we're not far away from the 25th anniversary of the first Shrek film – but if that makes you feel a little old, at least there's some good news to cheer you up.
