Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has taken full responsibility for his team selection in the 3-1 defeat against Fulham.

Eddie Howe has issued an update on Alexander Isak after the Newcastle striker suffered an injury ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game against Fulham. Reports first emerged on Thursday that the influential Sweden international was a doubt for the weekend trip to Craven Cottage after sustaining an issue with his foot this week.

Newcastle suffered their first loss of the season with goals from Raul Jimenez and Emile Smith-Rowe putting Fulham into a commanding lead at half-time. Harvey Barnes pulled a goal back for Newcastle early in the second half but The Magpies weren’t able to find an equaliser as Reiss Nelson capitalised on a Bruno Guimaraes error in stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt.
