HBO is officially confirming the first cast members for the “ Harry Potter ” TV series.

John Lithgow, a six-time Emmy and two-time Tony Award winner, will star as Albus Dumbledore.Lithgow also is an Olivier winner and a BAFTA and Oscar nominee. Janet McTeer is cast as Minerva McGonagall.
