London's FTSE 100 index was 0.8% higher at 1:00 p.m. in the U.K. on Friday — putting it on track for its longest ever run of daily gains. On Thursday, the index notched its fourteenth consecutive session of gains.

Britain's blue-chip index notched its 15th consecutive session of gains - its longest winning streak on record - as investors took heart from signs of easing global trade tensions. The FTSE 100 rose 1.

The FTSE 100 has struggled for direction once again, flitting between small gains and losses for most of the day. It’s ultimately closed higher, its 14th consecutive day in the green and extending its best run since 2017.
