Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty against one of the men involved in the ambush at a Saint Alphonsus hospital in Boise earlier this year if he’s found guilty of the first-degree murder of a North Idaho man,

Umphenour and Skylar Meade, the Boise inmate, are accused of killing Mauney while they were on the run from authorities following an incident in Boise.

Nicholas Umphenour, the man accused of helping his co-defendant escape from prison will now face the death penalty. Umphenour is accused of helping Skylar Meade escape from jail in Boise while Meade was receiving care at a local hospital.

Nez Perce County prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty for Nicholas Umphenour, the man who helped coordinate an Idaho prison escape and hospital ambush, for the killing of 83-year-old Juliaetta resident James Mauney.
