Israel's military said it intercepted two missiles launched from Yemen and that sirens had sounded twice across the country including in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank on Thursday, as the Iran-aligned Houthis stepped up attacks.

Sirens sounded in several areas in Israel following a projectile that was launched from Yemen and successfully intercepted. Magen David Adom says one person was injured while seeking shelter.

Israel on Friday said its defences intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, the third to be fired in less than 24 hours. "Following the alerts ... one missile launched from Yemen was intercepted," the army said in a statement.
