With the first Santa Ana wind event of the season bringing increased fire danger to a warm and dry Southern California this week, Gov. Gavin Newsom has decided to send additional firefighting resources to the region.

On Tuesday at 9:47 a.m. a red flag warning was released by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA in effect until Wednesday at 6 p.m. The warning is for Southeastern Ventura County Valleys, Santa Susana Mountains and Western San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14 Corridor.

State leaders have long understood Northern California's wildfire crisis and are investing resources to solve it. But in Southern California, the problem is more confounding.
