With a 3-0 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Thursday, the Washington Capitals extended their winning streak to six games.

The Seattle Kraken were entirely outmatched by Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals in a 3-0 loss as Ovechkin moved one goal close to Wayne Gretzky's NHL record of 894.

Entering the 2024-25 season, Ovechkin needed 42 goals to break Gretzky’s record of 894 career tallies. After scoring goal No. 875 on January 23, Ovechkin now needs just 20 goals to pass Gretzky for the NHL’s record.
