Boston acquired a 2025 Competitive Balance Round A — which is No. 33 — in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Quinn Priester. The Red Sox forfeited their second-round pick when Alex Bregman signed with the team in February, but received a compensatory draft pick after Nick Pivetta signed with the San Diego Padres in free agency.
The Milwaukee Brewers selected University of Tennessee infielder Andrew Fischer with the 20th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Vice President of Amateur Acquisition Tod Johnson.
