Two weeks after the emotional high of a win at Notre Dame, NIU’s football team is experience a much different emotion. The Huskies followed up their history win by losing their MAC opener at home Saturday to Buffalo 23-20 in overtime.

No. 23 Northern Illinois pulled off the shocker of the season two weeks ago at Notre Dame. The buzz and attention that came with it was all well and good. But as far as the Huskies (2-0) are concerned,

NIU played host to the Buffalo Bulls in a MAC game and were upended, 23-20, in overtime. Buffalo’s winning margin came on a 37-yard field goal by Upton Bellenfant. The Bulls improved to 3-1 and the Huskies are 2-1. It was the second time in school history Buffalo beat a ranked opponent.

"I know to the outside world, people are still talking about that game," NIU coach Thomas Hammock said. "We moved on last week."
