A former aide to the Prince of Wales has said the royal was at his "lowest" after the Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer. In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Jason Knauf, formerly the chief executive of William and Kate's Royal Foundation, said: "It was awful, absolutely awful. It's the lowest I've ever seen him.

"He has lost his mother, he’s effectively lost his brother, his wife’s got cancer, his father’s got cancer, and he’s trying to keep the show on the road," royal expert Robert Hardman wrote at the time in his book, Charles III: New King. New Court. "It could hardly be more stressful."
