Mackenzie Blackwood has had some long, busy nights playing on some hockey teams that didn’t win all that often.

DALLAS -- The Colorado Avalanche combined for 1,177 games of experience in the Stanley Cup Playoffs entering Game 1 of the Western Conference First Round. Their starting goalie, however, had zero. A big question, at least on the outside, was how Mackenzie Blackwood would handle it.

After finishing up the 82-game NHL regular season earlier in the week, the Colorado Avalanche begin their quest for the Stanley Cup tonight as they take on the Dallas Stars in a first-round matchup. These two teams met three times in the regular season, with Colorado winning two of those games and Dallas winning one.
