Parents and educators are receiving notifications about the breach, but it’s still unclear exactly how many people have been affected or what information was leaked.

In an FAQ obtained by TechCrunch, PowerSchool confirms it negotiated with the threat actors responsible for the breach.

Westerville City Schools confirmed personal student info was accessed in PowerSchool breach. Unclear if several more central Ohio districts affected.

In an e-mail sent to Twin Falls School District parents, the system provider PowerSchool was part of the cybersecurity incident on December 28, 2024. The Twin Falls IT departments have been reviewing the access and as of now it doesn’t appear that the Twin Falls School District information was accessed.

New Trier said the data that was accessed included names and school ID numbers. No current students' Social Security numbers were accessed, but some former students' were.
