"Good Night, and Good Luck" originated as a 2005 film starring George Clooney, David Strathairn, Patricia Clarkson and Robert Downey Jr. The film tells the story of broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow's mission to challenge Senator Joseph McCarthy.

The play transports viewers back to the 1950s but feels equally relevant in the 2020s with its themes of unrestrained political power, corporate timidity and journalistic integrity.

"He never had trouble, he always could do it," Clooney said, quipping, "I hated him for that." Meyers joked, "I think we all should. I think it's unfair." Clooney then deadpanned,

It looks like [I’m] going through some horrible midlife crisis,” said the actor, who darkened his famously gray hair for his Tony-nominated performance in 'Good Night, and Good Luck.'
