A felony judge set bail for a man accused of killing a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy at $3 million — tripling the amount given to an accused accomplice.

The man was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. One of the deputies was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Judge Hilary Unger set bond at $3 million for Ronnie Palmer, who is charged with capital murder and aggravated assault in the death of Harris County Deputy Fernando Esqueda.
