LONDON (AP) — Britain threatened Tuesday to take further action against Israel if it does not agree to end the war in Gaza, a day after two dozen mostly European countries condemned Israel’s restrictions on aid shipments into the territory and the killings of hundreds of Palestinians trying to reach food.

The Middle East has been transformed since 7 October, and almost two years on, the conflict in Gaza is at another inflection point.

Strikes in the central part of the territory targeted a city, Deir al-Balah, that had largely been spared and that had become an informal refuge for Palestinians fleeing other areas.

All options are on the table if Israel does not deliver on its pledges to facilitate humanitarian aid in Gaza, the European Union's top diplomat said on Tuesday.

In a joint statement the countries call for an end to the war and the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.

Israel attacked the World Health Organization’s premises in Gaza three times on Monday, the UN agency said, warning that Israel’s expanding war with Hamas was pushing the Palestinian enclave’s health system further towards collapse.

President Donald Trump was caught by surprise last week by Israeli actions in Gaza and Syria, and in both instances phoned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “rectify” the matter, according to the White House.

The World Health Organization says Israel's ground offensive has compromised its efforts to continue working, after its facilities were attacked.
