EAST LANSING — Bryce Underwood experienced his first taste as a player of the vicious rivalry between Michigan and Michigan State football. And he came out as a victor.

The No. 25-ranked Michigan Wolverines defeated the Michigan State Spartans 31-20 in East Lansing for the Paul Bunyan Trophy, their fourth straight victory in the rivalry.

The Spartans were stopped on fourth down twice in the fourth quarter to fall, 31-20, to Michigan in East Lansing.

Michigan was far from perfect, but it was much better than MSU, which remains winless in the Big Ten in Jonathan Smith's second season.
