Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar delivered a sincere remark on one teammate of Nathan MacKinnon as the losing streak extends in the 2025-26 NHL season.

Nielsen, 25, signed an AHL contract with the Eagles on August 1, 2025 and was invited to Avalanche training camp. Since being reassigned to the Eagles, the forward has begun the season by posting seven points (3g/4a) in seven games with the club. He ranks tied for first on the team in points and tied for third in assists.

Former Abbotsford Canucks forward Tristen Nielsen has signed an NHL contract. The Calder Cup champion inked a two-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche through the 2026-27 season. Nielsen signed this off-season with the AHL's Colorado Eagles after spending his first four seasons as a pro with the Vancouver Canucks organization.

Meanwhile, the New Jersey Devils (8-1-0) and Utah Mammoth (8-2-0) won all four of their contests and enter Week 4 of the 2025-26 NHL season tied atop the league standings with 16 points apiece. Colorado (5-1-4) and Vegas (5-1-3) still are among the top 10 but took a few steps back as a result of their performances.

The Colorado Avalanche placed goaltender Trent Miner on waivers Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. He’ll head to AHL Colorado if he clears.

The Avalanche first introduced Nordiques throwback jerseys when the NHL introduced Adidas' Reverse Retro jerseys ahead of the 2020-21 season.
