A top U.S. military official has ordered the Guards of all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories to form “quick reaction forces” trained in “riot control,” including the use of batons, body shields, tasers and pepper spray, according to an internal Pentagon directive reviewed by The Guardian.
The Pentagon says a “new press corps” of 60 journalists who had agreed to follow a new media policy will be welcomed into the building to cover the U.S. military
The unprecedented directive comes despite existing rules already barring military officials from disclosing national security secrets.

Pentagon accepts anonymous $130 million donation to help pay troops during government shutdown

The Defense Department accepted the donation under its “general gift acceptance authority” on Thursday, chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement.
The Pentagon ordered managers to fire underperforming civilian workers with "speed and conviction" under new guidelines that eliminate key job protections.
And big players in the defense world — such as Lockheed Martin and Palantir — are helping to bankroll a $300 million ballroom to be built on the wreckage of the East Wing (Notably, Lutnick himself is also listed as one of the donors in a list obtained from the White House by our own Diana Nerozzi. But that list was not comprehensive.)
