The losing streak has now reached a season-high eight games after getting blown out 12-4 by the Minnesota Twins on Saturday afternoon at Target Field.

Ryan escaped the first inning of an eventual 2-1 win without allowing a run, but only after the Pirates loaded the bases with two outs, and the Twins’ starter needed 34 pitches to get back to the dugout. He joked after the game that 34 pitches is fine for the first three innings, but a bit much for the first inning alone.

The Pirates have lost all eight games on this road trip, which includes back-to-back sweeps to the Seattle Mariners, July 4-6 at T-Mobile Field, and the Kansas City Royals, July 7-9 at Kauffman Stadium, plus the series opener vs. the Twins on July 11, 2-1.
