The Washington Commanders agreed to a record one-year, fully guaranteed contract with kicker Matt Gay, his agency announced Tuesday. A league source told UPI that the Commanders plan to release kicker Zane Gonzalez.

The Washington Commanders have signed veteran kicker Matt Gay and released Zane Gonzalez. Gay spent the past two NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

Many Washington fans were confused in March when the Commanders re-signed kicker Zane Gonzalez and didn't bring in another kicker. That changed Tuesday when Washington signed veteran kicker Matt Gay to a one-year deal worth $4.25 million, all of which is fully guaranteed.
