After one of their best efforts of the season in a 5-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, the Pittsburgh Penguins will look to continue the momentum on their road trip when they take on the Anaheim Ducks Thursday night.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Mason McTavish and Alex Killorn each scored twice and the Anaheim Ducks beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 on Thursday night. Frank Vatrano also scored and Troy Terry and Jacob Trouba each had a pair of assists as the Ducks snapped a four-game winless streak. John Gibson made 31 saves.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (20-21-8) are monitoring just one player on the injury report, Rickard Rakell, heading into a Thursday, January 23 matchup with the Anaheim Ducks (18-23-6) at Honda Center. The game begins at 10:00 PM ET.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and perhaps Rickard Rakell got some good news since Sunday. Rakell left the team sometime after the loss on Saturday to the Washington Capitals to return to Pittsburgh and tend to a family matter.

It was a tough night for the Penguins on Thursday in Anaheim. Not only were they unable to carry over the momentum from Monday’s win over Los Angeles – they lost winger Bryan Rust late in the second period.
