A Mumbai court granted five-day police custody to the accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, citing suspicions of an international conspiracy due to the attacker’s Bangladeshi origin.
The police on Saturday night arrested Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad for allegedly sneaking into Saif Ali Khan's house and stab the actor several times.
The primary accused behind the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan was arrested by Mumbai Police on Sunday and was sent to five-day police custody by Bandra court. Police also hinted at an 'international conspiracy' angle in the case, stating that the accused is from Bangladesh, however, the latter's lawyer called the police's claims bogus.
Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad's lawyer, Advocate Sandeep Shekhane, has disputed police claims that Shehzad is a Bangladeshi national. Shekhane argued that there is no evidence to support these allegations and emphasized that his client has been living in Mumbai for over seven years.
