Firefighters on the Treasure Coast prepared for Red Flag Day Thursday and were ready to respond. Fortunately, no issues were reported. Forest rangers actively monitored weather conditions throughout the day. A Red Flag Warning indicates the potential for large and fast-moving fires if conditions are favorable.
Judge Andy Brown enacted a burn ban after the National Weather Service said inclement weather on Tuesday would elevate wildfire risk.
Much of the El Paso region, far West Texas and southern New Mexico could face "extreme fire danger" on Monday, including the Gila and Lincoln national forests, the National Weather Service warned. The National Weather Service office for El Paso has issued a "red flag warning" for the region in place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 3.
