First, monkeys escape a research facility; now, emus are on the run in South Carolina. On Wednesday, Horry County officials announced that two emus escaped from their owner after social media posts started circulating.

A “sizeable group” remains active along the compound's fence line and bedded down in the trees, police in Yemassee, about 50 miles northeast of Savannah, Georgia, said in a statement.

More than half of the monkeys that escaped a medical research facility in Yemassee, South Carolina, last week have been recovered, but 18 remain on the loose. One was recaptured on Saturday and 24 more caught on Sunday.

In Yemassee, officials have announced that 25 of the monkeys that escaped from a research and breeding facility have been returned. Eighteen still on the loose.
