KFC has launched a lawsuit against Church’s Texas Chicken. The chicken restaurants reportedly dispute the use of trademarked words. Church’s has been using the words “Original Recipe” in its advertising and promotions.

George W. Church Sr. started Church's in 1952, at a time when convenience and fast-food was beginning to take off nationwide. The first Church's was a small stand across the street from The Alamo in San Antonio, where customers could look right through the windows and into the kitchen. Two pieces of fried chicken and a roll were $0.49.

KFC is taking one of its smaller rivals to court, suing Church's Texas Chicken for allegedly violating its trademark rights by using the phrase "original recipe" in pitching its fried poultry products.
