The police officer from Ferguson, Missouri, who was critically injured during a protest on the 10th anniversary of Michael Brown’s death has been moved to a rehabilitation hospital.

A Ferguson police spokeswoman said the officer will be escorted by local police officers from the region as he is moved to an airport to go to the rehab facility.

Hundreds of first responders escorted Ferguson police officer Travis Brown to Spirit of St. Louis Airport, where he was transported to an out-of-state rehabilitation clinic.

The family of Officer Travis Brown said he is well enough to be transferred from Saint Louis University Hospital to a facility for specialized treatment.

While Officer Travis “TJ” Brown has not spoken yet, he is “cognitively all there,” said Terence Monroe, speaking for the family.

Officer Brown has spent extensive time in the ICU and has undergone multiple surgeries. Brown is said to be making progress as Brown's family says he's been able to open his eyes, move his fingers, and wiggle his toes.
