As a coast-to-coast winter storm slices across the U.S. Sunday and Monday, severe thunderstorms fired up across portions of the South on the warm side of the storm system.

Severe thunderstorms capable of producing winter tornadoes in three states prompted warnings in the Gulf Coast.

A tornado watch is now in effect for West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana, East Feliciana, and St. Helena parishes in Louisiana and Pike, Amite, and Wilkinson counties in Mississippi.
