Actor and director Tom Noonan, who played a serial killer in Michael Mann’s Manhunter, died at the age of 74. Noonan was well-known for his directorial debut, 1994’s What Happened Was…, which won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Dramatic Feature at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as the Best Screenplay award.
Tom Noonan played a lot of villains and character parts, but he also wrote and directed a terrific showcase for himself and another performer in What Happened Was.
