Boston City Councilor Sharon Durkan, a Wu loyalist, shared a selfie online announcing she won’t be at today’s council meeting because she’ll be “watching Mayor Wu as she testifies before Congress.” Durkan did not answer her cell phone this morning.

Councilors passed two resolutions: one “ in support of immigrant’s rights legislation ” pending at the State House, and another “ denouncing the rollback of temporary protected status ” for Haitians, Venezuelans, and others. The former was approved with a 10-2 vote, while the latter was approved unanimously.

The theatrical hearing reflected enormous tensions as President Donald Trump continues a major crackdown on undocumented immigration, with Democrats and Republicans sparring over the course of proceedings.
