Atishi is set to become the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi, taking over from Arvind Kejriwal after the AAP chief stepped down from the post in a surprising move.

Indian opposition leader Arvind Kejriwal picked Delhi minister Atishi to replace him as chief minister of the capital territory on Tuesday, allowing him to focus on winning a fresh mandate in elections due next year after getting bail in a graft case.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had initially decided that only Atishi would be sworn in, however, it was later determined that her council of ministers would also take the oath.

The President also cleared the appointment of 5 ministers and the oath-taking ceremony will take place at 4.30 pm at Raj Niwas

Joining Atishi in the new cabinet are AAP leaders Mukesh Ahlawat, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Imran Hussain. The new ministers are expected to retain their previous portfolios, while Ahlawat may receive departments left vacant by former minister Raaj Kumar Anand.

The swearing-in ceremony of AAP leader Atishi and her council of ministers will be held at Raj Niwas on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Officials told PTI that AAP leader Atishi will take oath as the chief minister of Delhi on Saturday afternoon.

The swearing-in ceremony is likely to be a low-key affair as the mood in the party is not upbeat because of Kejriwal's resignation and also because of the delay in approvals, leaving little time for preparations,

Atishi will become the third woman to hold the position of Chief Minister of Delhi, following in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj (BJP) and Sheila Dikshit (Congress).

Atishi, an AAP leader, is poised to take oath as Delhi's chief minister at Raj Niwas on Saturday evening. The precise timing of the ceremony is still under confirmation amid ongoing approval processes following Arvind Kejriwal's resignation.
