During the summer of 2024, the Golden State Warriors were rumored to have interest in adding Lauri Markkanen to the roster. Markkanen would have provided size, shooting and rebounding, all areas that Golden State had struggled with in prior years.
Following the Golden State Warriors' 119-109 season-opening win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, Warriors star Jimmy Butler revealed the bet he made with teammate Draymond Green.
However, no trade ever came to light, and according to ESPN's Anthony Slater, veteran Draymond Green played a role in that. According to Slater, Green told Mike Dunleavy and Joe Lacob not to trade for Markkanen because of what Golden State would have had to give up.
