The latest round of Bafta Rising Star nominations, which hails the stars of tomorrow, positions the series as a signifier of future talent – much in the same way Skins made stars of Nicholas Hoult, Dev Patel and Daniel Kaluuya back in the 2000s.

Marisa Abela, who portrayed late singer Amy Winehouse in biopic "Back to Black", and "Anora" star Mikey Madison are among the five nominees for the EE Rising Star Award at next month's British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Film Awards.

Jan. 7 (UPI) --stars Five young actors were nominated Tuesday for the 2025 BAFTA Rising Star Award. The nominees are: Marisa Abela from Back to Black, Jharrel Jerome from Unstoppable, David Jonsson from Alien: Romulus, Mikey Madison from Anora, and Nabhaan Rizwan from In Camera .

The list this year includes Jharrel Jerome ('Unstoppable') and Nabhaan Rizwan ('In Camera') alongside Abela ('Back To Black'), Madison ('Anora') and Jonsson ('Alien: Romulus').

Jharrel Jerome, David Jonsson and Nabhaan Rizwan are also nominated for the award which was won by Sex Education star Emma Mackey in 2023

Bafta has announced the five actors nominated for the 2025 EE Rising Star award. They are: Marisa Abela, Jharrel Jerome, David Jonsson, Mikey Madison and Nabhaan Rizwan.

The 28-year-old English actor said she is “deeply honoured to be recognised by BAFTA and EE with a Rising Star nomination and just as grateful to be alongside this year’s other incredibly talented nominees”.
