A bad week for Hungary’s strongman leader as Trump-Putin summit scrapped and US sanctions Russia
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was delighted to learn last week that Russia and the United States had chosen his country as the venue for another summit on ending the war in Ukraine.
The new sanctions imposed by the United States on Russia will put more pressure on President Vladimir Putin, who is running out of money, troops and ideas, NATO chief Mark Rutte told reporters on Friday.
The sanctions are among the most significant measures that the United States has taken against the Russian energy sector since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
