An operation to free a two-metre bronze whaler inside a new shark barrier at Cottesloe Beach has entered its second day, as the probe into the animal allegedly being shot with a speargun continues.

Perth’s iconic Cottesloe beach has been shut down after a two-metre bronze whaler shark breached the barrier net on Wednesday morning, winding up trapped on the swimmer side of the ocean.
