Louisiana state law says that if a restaurant is serving imported crawfish or shrimp, the menu must note the country of origin and clearly state the word "imported."

SeaD Consulting, the same company that has been making headlines for its efforts to uncover seafood fraud at restaurants and festivals across the Gulf Coast, announced in a news release Thursday that it tested shrimp dishes at 24 randomly selected restaurants in the Lafayette area from Feb. 10-13.

Some diners in Lafayette may be disappointed to learn that the shrimp on their plate is not local, as advertised.
