Ohio State first-year athletic director Ross Bjork wasn’t the one who hired Ryan Day as the school’s head football coach. However, he firmly attached himself to Day in late November when he reaffirmed the Buckeyes wouldn’t make a coaching change after a fourth straight loss to Michigan.

Ohio State coach Ryan Day made it to the promiseland and delivered the Buckeyes their first national title since 2014, but the journey was far from a fairytale, according to his family.

The Buckeyes now have a chance to come out on top of the College Football Playoff after suffering a tough rivalry loss.

Crossing over in one of the biggest rivalries in sports is rare, though not unprecedented. Justin Boren, an offensive lineman, played two seasons at Michigan before transferring to Ohio State, finishing his career there in 2010. Michigan has a men’s basketball player this season, Roddy Gayle Jr., who played the previous two seasons at Ohio State.
