World leaders, lawmakers and even one Native American tribe are deploying a novel strategy for remaining on good terms with Presidential Donald Trump: Praise his peacemaking efforts and nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize.

But, according to an analysis of media reports and publicly available information, Trump has now been formally tapped for the prize at least 12 times, including most recently by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Individuals from six other countries, including Australia, Pakistan and Norway, have also put forward his name.

Still, critics argue that Trump’s record of sowing division undermines the spirit of the award, even as his supporters tout his diplomatic achievements.
